Read in 2 Languages is a CALEC initiative that promotes multilingualism by providing access to multilingual books for schools and linguistic communities interested in biliteracy, language maintenance, and bilingual education. As we grow, our online platform will include non-fiction literature, young adult novels, and children’s books, accessible for elementary through high school in a dozen languages.
Our digital platform supports recorded read-alouds in various languages performed by native speakers to accompany the books, thus significantly enhancing the language-learning experience. In addition, Read in 2 Languages will propose pedagogical activities and creative writing opportunities, as well as penpal and video exchange possibilities, particularly as our global community of readers expands.
